Alki Point Lighthouse tours will be back this year! The first day of the season is this Sunday, May 29. The first visitors enter the site at 1 p.m. The last tour begins at 3:45 p.m. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary plans to run tours every Sunday afternoon during the summer season through Labor Day weekend, pending the availability of a sufficient number of volunteers.
This year, to improve safety and reduce clutter, the tours team is piloting a new system to manage the number of visitors to the lighthouse, tower and site. No reservations are necessary, but there will be a sign-up sheet at the door on the day of the tour for visitors to register for a tour time slot for that afternoon. They can also be assigned a specific time to go up to the tower’s lantern room.
Visitors aged six and over can climb into the Lantern Room at the top of the tower. All children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult on the lighthouse site. Service animals are welcome, but no animals are allowed.
