An Ashton Fish and Chips is undergoing a major refurbishment with a new management team to reopen in a few weeks.
Umberto’s on Watery Lane has been in business since 1973 and new owner Gavin Hall has taken over operations.
A sit-down restaurant will be reintroduced, something the iconic takeout hasn’t seen in over three decades.

Gavin said Preston Blog: “It will bring the Umberto brand back to its full capacity and then also to take it to the next level with some twists.”
The fish bar is looking to acquire an alcohol license so patrons can have a ‘wine or beer’ with their meal for the full experience.
For gourmet service, the chippy will only use fresh, locally sourced ingredients to promote and help the local community.

On Facebook, Umberto’s Fish Bar said in a recent post: “Our fish will come straight from the docks of Fleetwood to your plate, our fries will come from the best potatoes, local vegetable markets and the rest, well , you catch our drift.”
The new owner is looking for food suggestions to create a menu “tailored to what the locals want”.
Some items will be removed from the menu and new additions will be introduced. Another announcement will be released in the coming weeks with more information.
