The Good Oscar Winner – Blog

Look how I came across last night at The good nurse premiere at the Paris Theater in New York! And by “ran into” I mean “eagerly accepted an invitation to attend assuming we could say hello again”…

Jessica Chastain was as charming and friendly as ever. We briefly discussed his visit to Ukraine, her next project after the movies she recently wrapped (she was deliberately vague about it since it hasn’t been officially announced yet), and of course the Oscars party. She still swears she didn’t think she was going to win. When I told her that she and Eddie Redmayne should play parents next time, she improved on my idea and suggested they do a movie about fraternal twins. Where can we buy tickets?

Seriously, they look so familial in the movie that it added an interesting dynamic to the true story. The film, which begins streaming on Netflix on October 26, is about nurse Amy Loughren (Chastain) who quickly befriends Charlie Cullen (Eddie Redmayne), a new night co-worker. But she realizes something is wrong when two patients she cares for suddenly die.

Later, at the premiere, I asked director Tobias Lindholm for an assurance that he wouldn’t stop making movies in his home country now that he was “gone to Hollywood.” If the name sounds familiar to you, it’s because he co-wrote amazing Danish films like The Commune and Mads Mikkelsen’s hit The hunt. Its own characteristic A war was also nominated for an Oscar. He can’t stop now! He promises to do both. We will see.

Before leaving the party, my boyfriend and I did what most attendees did and congratulated the real heroes of the story who had come to the party – the two real detectives who investigated the deaths (played by Noah Emmerich and Malik Yoba in the movie) and Amy Loughren herself were there. How did Loughren think Chastain was playing her, since she obviously had no idea who would when the crime book was picked up for the screen. “I feel like I manifested it,” she said with a smile, visibly pleased with Chastain.

And who wouldn’t?
