The Miller Park fountain was turned back on after being out of service since before the pandemic.

Preston’s Instagram community was quick to spot the repair and began posting images of the much-loved fountain.

Speaking to the Lancashire Post, Adrian Robinson, acting director of customer services at Preston City Council, explained that the flooding had caused serious damage to the fountain’s electrical mechanisms.

Although the pandemic has delayed the repair of the iconic structure, it will now be ready in time for this year’s Easter egg rolling event.

The fountain has already undergone maintenance in 2018, when it was cleaned, a new pump was installed and replacement lights were added.
