A community theater troupe is up for the community organizing award as part of the 2022 National Diversity Awards.
The awards celebrate the work done by grassroots communities to solve the problems of today’s society and recognize the work they do.
Kidz4Kidz was started to provide a community theater company for children in Preston when the youth clubs closed.

The group is run by volunteers and weekly contractors pay for its operation and any proceeds are donated to local charities to support young people in the area.
Since Kidz4Kidz launched in 2001, more than 800 cast members have participated in shows and more than 30 volunteers have worked with the group to make costumes, fundraise, produce shows and hold committee meetings.
They have performed over 60 shows, some have weekly rehearsals and some are rehearsed during an intensive holiday club week.
Kidz4Kidz is open to young people of all backgrounds and abilities, with former cast members living with brittle bone disease, wheelchair users, and with ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome.
The ceremony will take place in Liverpool where the nominees will attend a scintillating black tie event.
The award is voted on by the public and voting is open until the end of May.
