There are plans to create a gym in part of an old farmhouse in Barton.

A planning application was registered last month for the change of use of part of Unit 4 at Hill Top Farm at Jepps Lane from storage and distribution (class B8) to an indoor recreation facility (class E(d)).

Hill Top Farm was historically a pig farm but became a timber yard in the 1960s/1970s before also being used as a yard/storage area since the 1990s.

The gymnasium, located in the countryside, is expected to be a members-only club with opening hours from 5am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 6am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The current site is not restricted by opening hours, so planners say the addition of the gym will have no negative impact on neighboring residents, with the closest properties being Hill Top Farm Cottages at 113m, Brookside Cottage at 182m and Blacow House Farm at 225m.
