On Wednesday, December 15, firefighters fought a fire in a hangar in Deepdale that spread to an adjacent building.


At 2:41 am, four fire engines from Preston, Penwortham and Bamber Bridge witnessed a fire at a commercial building on Stanleyfield Road with a Blackpool aerial ladder platform.

The fire involved a hangar and spread to a commercial building occupied by Gujerati Sunni Muslim Society Ltd.

A joint investigation between the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Lancashire Police has now concluded and determined that a faulty light fixture at the rear of the property was the cause of the fire.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatuses, two hose reel jets and a positive pressure ventilator to extinguish the flames.

Investigators do not consider the incident suspicious at this time.

Firefighters and police will now maintain a presence on the scene to reassure the community.
