New Required Feature: Public Snapchat Profiles

From June 2022, all businesses on Snapchat must create a free public profile in order to advertise on the platform. Similar to how profile pages work in other social interfaces, your public Snapchat profile will act as a discoverable landing page for your brand. This homepage will publicly display all assets and content for the viewer, including AR lenses, public stories, saved stories, and your native commerce store if hosted on Shopify. Public profiles will also only be available to users aged 18 and over to comply with minor internet safety guidelines.

How to set up your public profile on Snapchat

Step 1: Log in to Snapchat Ads Manager.

2nd step: Click the ‘Manage Ads’ drop-down menu in the top right corner and select ‘Public Profiles’. {Note: Public profiles can only be created by the “Organization Admin” of the account. Roles can be found under the “Members” page.}

Step 3: If you’ve already created a public Snapchat account for your brand, select “I already have a Snapchat account”. Otherwise, select “Create a Snapchat account”. You will then be prompted to log in and create a new one based on your selection. If you are creating a new account, it is important to note that username cannot be changed!

  • If the username you planned to use is not available, you will need to create a new one. Fortunately, usernames are hidden for many brands in the interface; therefore, as long as it matches your brand name, there is no need to have an identical username.

Step 4: Enter your profile details. All fields are optional apart from the username, but the more information you provide, the more robust your profile will be, making it easier for users to find information. Be sure to include a profile photo of your logo – this should be at least 320×320 pixels and in PNG, JPG or JPEG format. Logo images cannot exceed 2MB.

Step 5: Click “Create profile” to make your profile active and searchable in the Snapchat interface! Once your profile is live, it’s important to link any saved Lenses or Stories to the page to make it easy for viewers to engage with your brand directly from your profile homepage.

Besides the fact that they will be mandatory, having a public profile will give your brand more potential to be reached organically by Snapchat users.
