Hi everyone, we’ve rolled out some new maps and modes in Destruction AllStars over the past few months and it was fantastic to see the community reaction to the new content as well as all the carnage and destruction in the arena. *! If you haven’t kept pace, we’ve added two new, smaller arenas in Mayhem to the QuickPlay playlist, as well as a brand new game mode, Mayhem Falls.
This weekend, we’ll be hosting a special event previewing our next game mode, Carnado Falls! Be sure to jump into the game to check it out before adding it to the Quickplay rotation later this month. Lets give you the information about all these updates and what you can expect from these new modes.
At first glance, Mayhem Falls looks like a standard Mayhem game set on a Gridfall map. While that was certainly what sparked the idea, the end result has a few more nuances to grasp. Players start with a flat arena where the objective is to crush, destroy and knock out your opponents to reach the top of the leaderboards. As the game progresses sections of the arena begin to crumble, creating precarious ledges that players can fall into due to misconduct or get knocked over by your opponents.
If you fall into the pit below you will lose 30% of your score. We wanted to strike a balance between punishing players who ultimately fell off the map, while still leaving enough room to move up through the ranks if you suffer a premature dive. The higher you get on the board, the more you’ll want to watch your steps and make sure you keep knocking players off the map. It really raises the stakes and makes the games more intense and action packed! Every decision you make, every slam, dodge or wreck has more impact on the game than ever. One mistake could send you tumbling down the scoreboard, all you have to do is play until the end. game over !
Mayhem Falls is available to all players in the Quickplay Online Multiplayer Playlist *.
Carnado Falls takes things to the next level and challenges you to balance offensive and defensive play as the arena crumbles around you. While there are many similarities to our other Falls game mode, the Carnado Falls scoring system is still based on the classic Carnado: smash, wreck and KO your opponents to build gears inside your car. Drive your car into the Carnado to score and enter the scoreboard. The only difference here is that the map falls under your wheels as the game progresses, you have to be careful not to fall off the map and lose all of your gears while causing even more wrecks and knockout in the shrinking arena.
Keeping your vehicle alive long enough to rack up plenty of gears is always a challenge in Carnado, but these changes really increase the pressure as you dodge between the gaps in the arena, along with your opponents, in this fast-paced game mode. You really have to strategize and choose your wrecks a bit more carefully if you want to score a good score in Carnado Falls, you can just as easily follow your opponents to the side with a poorly timed slam.
Carnado Falls will arrive for a special preview this weekend in Destruction AllStars. Available Friday, October 1 at 8 a.m. PT / 4 p.m. BST through Monday, October 4 at 3 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. BST. It will then be available in the Quick Play Multiplayer Playlist on Wednesday, October 6 at 8 a.m. PT / 4 p.m. BST. Carnado Falls requires PlayStation Plus *.
We designed these modes to make players think a little differently than they would when playing Mayhem or Carnado normally. With the new arena floor danger steadily disappearing, the game modes certainly feel more intense and action-packed as you try to carve out space on the remaining arena floor while trying to find the perfect angle to knock out your opponents. the pit below!
If there were a few tips we had to give you to get you started in Carnado Falls this weekend, it would be to look for heavier or bigger vehicles to give you a better chance of surviving any attempt to push yourself past the edge of the card. The same goes for hero vehicles, choosing an AllStar with a heavy hero vehicle to summon can give you real stamina in the arena. If all else fails, remember to eject your vehicle before it falls off the map to try to avoid losing points, or at least mitigate losses somewhat.
Bring an umbrella
