More Samsung QLED deals than you can shake a stick at
Earlier, I posted a roundup of the 11 best TV deals from the Samsung Memorial Day sale and was genuinely surprised at how well Samsung’s own sales of its world-renowned QLED displays performed. Basically, in a nutshell – almost all models are currently discounted, including the latest ones. That said, it’s the discounts on the now slightly older (but still fantastic) 2021 and 2020 models that I think are the real highlights today.
Here is a selection from my previous post:
As you can see, it’s mostly the slightly older models here that are getting the lion’s share of bargains today from Samsung. We highly recommend considering them if you’re looking to save some money, as most new models are iterative upgrades at best. You can forgo things like better rear ports or OS updates, but generally speaking the 2020 and 2021 models are still easily among the best TVs you can buy.
Correction! Walmart has the lowest LG C1 price
Earlier we covered Amazon’s awesome deal on the stunning LG C1 OLED TV. for $1,599 – which we believe was the lowest price ever.
Well, that’s actually not true – Walmart is beating Amazon’s price by $50 right now, which brings the 65-inch screen up down to just $1,549 – a whopping $950 off the original retail price.
OK, that doesn’t beat Amazon’s price much, but it’s technically the record price on the 65-inch size. All in all, this makes for a fantastic high-end TV offering even better today and well worth checking out. If you’re interested, scroll down for our full review on why the LG C1 OLED is such a great display – and actually great value for money, despite its steep price tag.
Top tips from our team of experts
What are the big things to consider before you start looking for a TV in the Memorial Day sale? Well, our resident TV and audio expert, Matt Bolton, is here with his top three tips for finding a Memorial Day TV bargain you’ll love:
1. Choose your size and your budget in advance: There are hundreds of potential offers to explore, so keep it simple. What screen size do you want? What is your spending limit? Nailing these down means you only have a dozen designs left to choose from. You can always break your rules if you see an amazing offer, but you need a starting point.
2. Buy the highest quality model you can afford: With inflation the way it is, you don’t want to buy a TV and find it’s missing a feature you want soon, or has picture quality you’re not happy with a month later. Think of it as an investment, so invest well now.
3. Check all major retailers before buying: we’ve done a lot of research to bring you the best prices, but it’s always worth quickly checking other stores to see if prices have changed before buying. It’s unlikely, but you never know, there could be an extra $50 or $100 you can save if you time it right.
A great deal of cheap 4K TV on Amazon
And now something for our budget conscious readers. You’re spoiled for choice right now, but we think one of the best-selling cheap Memorial Day 4K TVs is this midrange 65-inch Toshiba M550 on Amazon. for $499.99 (was $999).
So a big screen TV at half the price that’s literally packed with features. We’ve seen plenty of displays like this before at Amazon (and Best Buy, Walmart), but this one really caught our eye. Not only is it really big, easy to fit into a smart home setup, but it’s one of Amazon’s first inexpensive “Fire TVs” to offer local dimming. If you don’t know what it is, check out our explanation.
In short, it’s basically a fancy screen technology under the hood that gives you great color balance in darker on-screen environments. Sure, it won’t challenge a QLED screen in this area (more on those later), but it will blast most budget TVs.
This display also offers a 120Hz refresh rate, making it a great option if you’re looking to plug in a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S console in your living room.
LG C1 OLED – now at its lowest ever price
OK, we’re kicking this thing off screaming about a deal on one of our favorite TVs ever here at TechRadar – the stunning LG C1 OLED. Ok, ok, so it’s pricey but bear with us – it’s literally one of the best TVs you can buy right now and today’s price drop on Amazon knocks this thing down $900.
If you’re serious about your picture quality and want a true cinephile 4K experience at home, this one is definitely worth considering. It’s actually an older model now (the LG C2 is on the way), so many retailers are looking to clear stock, it seems. It might seem like a big buy, but it really is a bargain – trust us on this one.
