KIA Stonic vs Toyota Yaris – A Comparison

Continuing our series of comparisons, we will compare KIA Stonic with Toyota Yaris ATIV X CVT, which is the high-end variant of the car. It is relevant to mention that KIA Motors did not disclose all specifications and features for Pakistan; therefore, these are specifications and features of the best international variant of the car.

Segment and body type

KIA Stonic is a segment B subcompact with the Crossover SUV body type, while Yaris is the compact sedan in the C segment.


The compact crossover by KIA has a length of 4140 mm, a width of 1760 mm, a height of 1520 mm and a wheelbase of 2580 mm. During this time, Yaris measures 4425mm long, 1730mm wide, 1475mm high with a 2550mm wheelbase. If we compare the Ground clearance, Stonic has 183mm against 175mm of Yaris.

Engine and transmission

KIA should offer a 1.4MPI engine in Pakistan, which generates 100 hp and 133 Nm of torque. In comparison, Yaris has a 1.5SFI engine, producing 106 hp and 140 Nm of torque, giving the latter an advantage.

Come to the transmission, Stonic would have a 6-speed automatic, while Yaris has a 7-speed CVT. The two cars are Front wheel drive (FWD).


KIA’s crossover should come with Halogen dual-function projection headlights compared to the 4-beam halogen of the Yaris. In addition, Stonic would have 4 strip LED DRL, and halogen fog lamps against LED DRL and the halogen fog lights of the Toyota sedan.

The Stonic will come with 16 inch alloy rims, while Yaris has 15 inch alloy those.


Stonic is expected to have a 4.2 inch LCD behind the management and a 7 inch touch screen, while Yaris has a 4.2 inch LCD and 6.8 inch touchscreen. The Seat material in both cars are fabric. In addition, Stonic has a 6-way manual adjustment for driver’s seat, while Yaris comes with 4-way manual tuning. Both cars have Keyless entry, while Speed ​​regulator is additional in Stonic, which is not available in Yaris.

Finally, both cars have Automatic air conditioning, making them equal in this segment.


If we compare the safety features, both vehicles have 2 airbags, each. Both vehicles have a rear camera, traction control, Hill help, Stability control, ABS + EBD. Additional features of Stonic would be Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TMPS) and rear parking sensors.


The current price of Toyota yaris is Rs2,899,000, while it is expected that KIA Stonic will be launched in the range of Rs35-lakes to Rs40-lakes. If this is true, then Stonic would be more expensive than its competitor.
