The Met Office issued a heavy rain warning for Preston on Sunday February 20.
The yellow warning, which lasts all day until 6 p.m., covers much of North West England.
Travel could be affected as sea spray and flooding are expected to lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, leading to delays or cancellations of train and bus services.

Homes and businesses may be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.
Although less likely, there is also a risk of power outages and loss of other services for some homes and businesses.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: ‘An area of heavy rain will affect parts of North West England on Sunday and will turn slow for some time with very heavy rain, particularly at higher ground.
“The duration and intensity of rainfall could bring widespread totals of 20-40mm, but some exposed sites could see 60-80mm on Sunday – however – this will fall on already saturated ground.
“The rain is expected to dissipate to the south by Sunday evening.”
