The Foxton Center explained how a midterm burglary at a local cabin caused them to cancel their Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday June 8, local homeless charity The Foxton Center said their cabin at Smiths Rec in Frenchwood was broken into during the midterm vacation, with “lots of things damaged”. .
The incident led the charity to postpone its Platinum Jubilee celebrations scheduled for Thursday that week until it could complete repairs.

The Foxton Center said: ‘We were deeply saddened that our cabin at Smiths Rec was broken into.
“The young people in our youth groups put incredible effort into planning and organizing the Jubilee event, and therefore we are still aiming to move the event later in the year and offer an event To the whole community.
“A huge thank you to the young people who have worked so hard to try to offer something to everyone. We will get there!
“While we find funds and resources to repair our cabin, all of our youth groups will be at the Foxton Centre. Thank you for all your understanding and support.

The Foxton Center planned to revitalize the disused Smiths Recreation Ground bowling green after the space gained a reputation for antisocial behavior and drug and alcohol abuse.
They aim to use the site to create “a safe green space where members of the local and surrounding communities can come together”.
