COP27 officially opened in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt on Sunday 6 November. However, it was a quieter day, with no specific topics on the presidency’s agenda, which gave participants time to settle in before the two weeks of negotiations and side events.

Monday and Tuesday (November 7 and 8) are the World Leaders’ Summit under the COP – the two-day period when prime ministers, heads of state, special envoys and senior ministers are all ready to meet. At previous COPs, these summits have seen nations announce new ambitions and major new climate programs, such as India’s net zero goal in 2070, and collaboratively agree new measures on specific topics such as forests or clean technologies. It’s also likely that there are plenty of famous faces on the pitch.

To help you stay up to date during this crucial part of COP, edie’s editorial team cuts the noise with this exclusive live blog. Follow below for updates.
