BLOG: InterDigital’s Erik Reinhard Leads Exploration of Energy-Sensitive Diffusion in New Webinar

[ad_1]

Almost a year after an interdigital-focused power consumption effort was proposed within the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and incorporated into the responsibilities of the ITU- R (WP 6C), the diverse team of experts addressed the consideration of energy consumption within their research. Although WP 6C’s expertise in video and program production standards is specialized, the technologies they develop have a huge impact when ultimately incorporated into consumer electronics and related services.

Erik Reinhard of InterDigital was appointed co-rapporteur of this important sustainability initiative, alongside Hemini Mehta of the European Broadcasting Union, and he was also elected co-chair of the ITU-R Rapporteur Group on energy-sensitive broadcasting, guiding research discussions on energy-sensitive media and other topics.

To present the results and ideas of their research, Erik and his fellow researchers will host a webinar on Energy Sensitive Diffusion on March 23 to showcase their work to minimize the environmental impact of creating, exchanging and distributing content. The webinar will feature perspectives on energy consumption in program production, ICT, media and entertainment, as well as broadcaster practices and a panel discussion.

Register for the Energy Aware Broadcasting webinar at Wednesday, March 23 at 3:00 p.m. CET/ 10:00 a.m. EThere and stay tuned for more research and updates on this critical topic.
